What is the best Home Water Filter option for us?

I live in Tampa, FL, where the water is very hard and has sulfur in it. I live in an apartment, so I cannot use a whole-house system to clean and soften the water; also, we will be leaving this apartment next March. I want to clean the water in the kitchen for drinking/cooking and on the showers (two), because the sulfur does weird things to our hair and skin. What might be the best option(s) for us?

you can get an under sink system from Culligan,kenmore,GE, ect. online or at home centers and they have shower head filters that screw on
